Event Update, February 2, 2011

Welcome to Spring Semester or at least the winter part of Spring Semester! Hope everyone is off to a great start. We have lots of activities in store for the Women of K-State this spring semester. More details to follow. Two activities I want to bring to your attention – 1) Women’s Basketball on 2/9 (tickets only $3) and 2) Opera Benefit Concert on 2/13. See details below

  1. Today is National Girls and Women in Sports Day.  The theme is “Play, Believe, Achieve.”    Our own Shalee Lehning (K-State graduate, Assistant Coach for WBB, and WNBA Atlanta Dream player) shared what sports have meant to her on the WNBA website (see http://www.wnba.com/dream/news/the_dream__shalee_celebrate_2011_01_31.html) Please read below to learn about K-State’s plans to celebrate this day at our next home basketball game Wednesday, February 9 at 7 pm.  Arrive early (doors open at 6 pm) to meet and greet our women Olympic student athletes. Tickets through the Women of K-State are $3 and include a food voucher.
  2. One of the great things about Women of K-State is how we use our talents to help advance different parts of K-State.  Women of K-State include students, faculty, staff, administrators, alumnae and friends.  The K-State Department of Music and Friends of the K-State Opera are presenting a benefit concert for K-State Opera featuring international opera star (and spouse of a K-State faculty member) Nancy Maultby on Sunday, February 13 at 4:30 in All Faiths Chapel.  Additional information on the concert and tickets are available at the below websites. The cost to attend the recital and reception is $75.
