See K-State students in the theatre, dance, and music departments, show off their best when the McCain Performance Series presents the McCain Student Showcase at 7:30 p.m. at McCain Auditorium.

For this concert only, the Women of K-State can attend for just five bucks! (Plus any applicable fees and taxes).  When purchasing tickets, tell the box office that you are “a Woman of K-State” to receive the discount. *

A reception, attended by the student performers, will follow at McCain Auditorium. Please indicate to the ticket agent if you plan to attend the reception.

*This discount is valid only for new purchases and to Women of K-State members. Limit is 2 tickets per person.
  • Tickets must be purchased at the box office in person or by phone at 532-6428.
  • The McCain box office is open from 11:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. on weekdays.
  • Seating is at the discretion of McCain Auditorium.
  • Applicable fees and sales taxes will be added to the price of the ticket.

Fall 2011 Events

Women on Weights: Saturday, September 10, 2011 from 2:20-4:30 at the Chester E. Peters Recreation Complex

Any K-State faculty, staff or student with ID (over 18) can attend this event co-sponsored by the Women of K-State.   Exercise together and then enjoy a light snack at 4 pm while you network other women who attend.

Wildcat personal trainers will show the proper way for women to lift weights. Discover the health benefits of adding weight lifting to your workout routine. Learn safe lifting techniques and the variety of exercises for the major muscle groups.  Sign up for this free workshop in the administrative office at the Rec Complex or call 785-532-6980 by 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 9.

Volleyball Event: September 12, 2011  --   Pre-Event at 5:00 pm; Game time 6:00 p.m., Ahearn Fieldhouse

Celebrate with all the K-State Women’s Athletes and Women of K-State as we have representatives from women’s basketball, equestrian, rowing and track & field as well as Ryann Krais, 2011 NCAA women’s heptathlon champion will be there. Get autographs, pictures and posters of the teams.  Try your hand at rowing, equestrian and other activities.  Participants that RSVP to Shelly Broccolo (avery@k-state.edu) by 11 pm on Sunday, September 11 will receive a free food coupon.  Tickets are $3 for general admission (see http://www.ksu.edu/women/events/vb91211.html for details) and free for students.  Children and grandchildren are welcome to attend as well!

Pathway to Leadership: Meet the Women of President’s Cabinet: September 27, 2011  from 12:00-1:00 p.m. and 4:30-5:30 p.m. in the Alumni Center Ballroom

The Kansas State University President’s Cabinet consists of the President, Vice Presidents, Assistants to the President as well as the Athletic Director and Presidents of the K-State Alumni Association and Foundation.  This group works together to advance the university in many different areas.  At these two events meet the “Women of the Presidential Cabinet” including Provost April Mason, President of K-State Alumni Foundation Amy Button Renz and Assistants to the President, Jackie Hartman and Sue Peterson.  During each session, these leaders will discuss their positions on campus as well as their pathways to leadership.  After a panel discussion, there will be time for questions and answers.  Light refreshments will be served.

K-State Challenge Course Event: October 9, 2011 from 5-7 p.m. (Free for Demo, $5 to try course)

The K-State Challenge Course (http://recservices.k-state.edu/challengecourse/ is very excited to partner with the Women of K-State in offering a one of a kind evening.  The “Experience the K-State Challenge Course” event will begin at 5:00 pm with a tour of the entire course accompanied by explanations of what the course has to offer groups of all kinds. Following the tour, our guests will be invited to have some fun and take on a few of our many elements. With three low elements and one high element challenging guests, you are sure to have a great time with the challenge course staff and your peers. Snacks and refreshments will be waiting for guests following the tour and their experience on the elements. The evening will close at 7:00 pm as guests are encouraged to try out all the offered elements, but are free to leave as they please. The tour of the course is free, participation in the elements is $5 for Women of K-State. To RSVP, contact  Shelly Broccolo at avery@kstate.edu

Spelling Bee Musical: October 16, 2011 at 2:30 p.m. in Nichols Theatre (Reception after performance)

A Women of K-State event:  Sunday, Oct. 16  K-State Theatre and the Dept. of Music present “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee” at 2:30 in Nichols Theatre.     This year all K-State faculty and staff will receive $2 off their tickets for all K-State Theatre and Dance performances.  The Women of K-State will receive an additional $1 off if they attend this matinee performance on Oct. 16.  When purchasing your tickets, tell the box office that you are “a women of K-State” to receive the discount.   A reception will follow in the lobby of Nichols Theatre.

McCain Box office is open from 11:30 am to 4:30 pm weekdays.  You may also purchase tickets at the Little Theatre box office in the Union on Wednesdays thru Fridays from 11:30 am to 1 pm.
