Women Mentoring Women first began in
1999 by a generous grant from Cargill. This community building program focuses on
supporting freshmen women in engineering as they begin their university
experience in a demanding curriculum. Freshmen women are grouped with upperclass-women mentors who are in the same program. The Mentors
offer advice, answer questions, and provide whatever support they can
throughout the academic year. The program also provides monthly
opportunities for all the participants to get together in a social
gathering, doing everything from ceramics lessons to a semi-formal dinner
with the deans of the College of Arts and Sciences and the College of Engineering,
