CampuS Internship Program (CSI) gives first year students the opportunity to participate in academic research in their discipline early in their college careers. During the 2006-07 academic year, twenty-four students participated in the CSI Program thanks to funding from each academic department, the College of Engineering, and K-State STEP. During the 2007-08 academic year, twenty-five students participated in the CSI Program from the College of Arts and Sciences as well as the College of Engineering.

CSI students participated in a variety of projects with research teams throughout the College of Engineering. The students worked in labs, testing facilities, and on their own to learn what academic research is like at K-State.

CampuS Internship Program (CSI) is one of six initiatives that is funded by K-State STEP.

K-State STEP is generously funded by the National Science Foundation’s STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) Talent Expansion Program (NSF Grant #DUE-0525556). We will receive $1.66 million over the next five years to build six programs focused on the retention of STEM students.
