Chemical and Biological Water Quality Assessment of the Cimarron

Seward County Community College

During the spring of 2007, biology instructors Todd Carter and Ty Hughbanks engaged a group of students in water quality assessments of the Cimarron River in Liberal, Kansas. More than 30 students sampled the river and surveyed aquatic species to a aquatic indicators of stream quality. The group partnered with the Kansas Geological Survey to implement the project. Data collected will contribute to best management practice decisions for the future.
