Public Relations Campaigns Launched for City of Manhattan
In this service-learning project, journalism and mass communications students partnered with the City of Manhattan Stormwater Division to educate the community on non-point source pollution issues. The students mailed surveys to residents through their water bills. They then conducted a SWOT analysis to determine needs. The students aimed to increase awareness and active interests about stormwater runoff pollution and ways to prevent damage to rivers and streams. Students developed multiple awareness materials, including PSAs, logos, and posters, and evaluated the effectiveness of the campaign.
