External GFP expression in S. frugiperda caterpillars displaying
the ‘Strong’ infection phenotype. Larvae infected with vHSGFP displayed
randomly scattered spots at 30 hours, and widely disseminated infection
by day 3 post-infection, while larvae infected with vHSGFP/P35del that
displayed the ‘Strong’ infection phenotype first showed GFP expression
in the prolegs and ventral surface, which slowly progressed dorsally in
bands. Photographs taken 5 days after injection.
