External Infection

External GFP expression in S. frugiperda caterpillars displaying the ‘Strong’ infection phenotype.  Larvae infected with vHSGFP displayed randomly scattered spots at 30 hours, and widely disseminated infection by day 3 post-infection, while larvae infected with vHSGFP/P35del that displayed the ‘Strong’ infection phenotype first showed GFP expression in the prolegs and ventral surface, which slowly progressed dorsally in bands.  Photographs taken 5 days after injection.
