We would like to take a moment to update you on a staffing change in the K-State Veterans Office. Lorene Dahm, the Coordinator of the Veterans Office, has retired after 40 years of service to K-State. We are in the process of searching for a replacement for Lorene. We anticipate a replacement being hired by middle or end or April. I'll send another e-mail to update everyone at the end of the search process. If you have questions about your veterans educational benefits, you can continue contacting the K-State Veterans Office. Deb Baltazor and our Veteran work-study students will be able to continue assisting you.
In addition to the staffing change, I thought you might find the following article of interest.

As we enter the Spring semester, we are pretty confident that the VA will once again be late with the payment of tuition and fees for students receiving benefits under Chapter 33 (Post 9/11 GI Bill). Because of the expected delay, the University will automatically defer the payment of Spring semester tuition and fees for all Chapter 33 students. There will be no fee assessed for the deferment. Please let me know if you are incorrectly assessed a late fee so I can have it removed. A late fee would be reflected on your student account as a "default charge."
If you are receiving other types of student financial assistance, they will be applied to your tuition and fee charges that are still outstanding. As your VA benefits for tuition and fees arrive, the Cashiers Office will issue you a refund if all of your charges have already been covered. If you are needing some financial assistance to help with the purchase of books and supplies, or living expenses, please don't hesitate to come to the financial aid office for an Emergency Student Loan. All service charges for the Emergency Student Loan will be waived if you are still waiting on your VA benefits to arrive.
Non Chapter 33 students: Please contact the financial aid office if you are receiving educational benefits under another Chapter and are also in need of assistance in the form of a deferment or and Emergency Student Loan.
