Research

The Urban Water Institute will help address the challenges of a sustainable and secure water supply for the future by enhancing K-State's and its partners' research and development activities related to water-related challenges and opportunities in urban and urbanizing areas.  This will be accomplished through cross-disciplinary and cross-boundary collaborations with industry, municipalities, government agencies and non-profits to conduct research, develop new technologies and provide high quality education.

The Institute has the potential to create economic impact at local, regional and global levels by collaborating with industry to develop cost-effective technologies and approaches to manage urban water through workforce development, by outreach to the global water industry and by impacting water policy.

The Institute's success will be defined by the new tools and approaches made possible through policy, innovative science and technology that increase the range of options for planning, developing and executing effective urban water management, informed decision making, and changes in public behavior to improve the responsiveness to current and emerging water challenges.
