2016-17 UPC Officer and Co-Chair Applications
The Union Program Council (UPC) is currently recruiting for their 27 executive board position for 2016-2017. We are excited about your interest in joining UPC! As K-State's premier event planning organization, UPC is responsible for organizing events in the K-State Student Union and around campus. Based out of the third floor of the Union and funded by student privilege fees, UPC provides entertainment that keeps the college student's budget in mind.

Professional behavior and business casual dress are expected for the interview. The decision-making process for the selecting of executive board members will consist of strength of application, strength of interview, potential leadership, and current UPC involvement.

Membership criteria for leadership positions with UPC are listed below. Please verify that you satisfy all requirements prior to beginning the application process.

After Hours (organizes substance-free entertainment and activities every Friday night. Events may include Grocery Bingo, Laser Tag, and Girls Night Out.),
Arts (coordinates the William T. Kemper Art Gallery exhibits, the Student Photography Contest, dinner theatres, and other art-related programs),
Campus Entertainment (focuses on researching, planning, and executing a large-scale, big-name event each semester according to the K-State Union Program Council Campus Entertainment Fund process),
Community (plans large, traditional programs, such as: Union Expo & Activities Carnival, Children’s Carnival, Dancing with the K-State Stars, Destressers, and Spring Egg Hunt),
Daytime Programs (conducts events specific to the daytime crowds throughout the week. Events may include Open House, Family Weekend, crafts, and novelty and entertainment acts.)
Films (selects blockbuster and classic films for the weekly series. Also sponsors “The Rocky Horror Picture Show”),
Forums (presents educational and informational programs on campus concerns through speakers, panels, and discussions. Plans Constitution Day activities and 9/11 flag display),
Multicultural (exposes the campus to diversity through films, slam poets, entertainment, lectures, and discussions. Events planned by the Multicultural Committee could include the Step Show and Drag Show),
Music (programs live music, from major concerts to Open Mic Night. Also plans the OPUS Competition, K-State Voice, and coordinates the summer music festival), and
Promotions (promotes UPC events through social media and works on committee projects).


ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
The UPC board members officially start in the Fall, but will attend a training session this Spring, so you can meet the outgoing chairs.  Board members will also be invited to the April banquet.

The applications only take a few minutes to fill out and the interviews will be about 15 minutes long.  In order to apply you need to have a 2.25 GPA or better.  If you have any questions, you can contact us at the office at 532-6571 or e-mail us at

For Exec Application

A minimum of five office hours per week including a meeting with your advisor and Tuesday evening meetings.
Assist in planning events and managing the budget.
Attend three mandatory retreats per year.
Maintain a 2.25 cumulative grade point average.
Be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours at Kansas State University.
Complete any other duties relevant to the specific committee as designated by the UPC President or Advisors. Failure to meet any of these requirements shall give the UPC President adequate grounds for your dismissal.
Plan any and all events for the first 4-6 weeks of the fall semester by April 30, 2016.
