Download and install Picasa for Windows

Picasa allows you to create photo albums and upload them to your Gmail account.

1. Go to picasa.google.com.

2. Click on the Download Picasa 3 button.

3. Choose Save File.

4. Double-click to open the installation file saved on your desktop.

5. If prompted, click Run to run this file.

6. Read the License Agreement, and then click I Agree.

7. Your destination folder will be automatically set as C:\Program Files\Google\Picasa3. Click Install.

8. The installation window will already have some options checked. You can uncheck "Send anonymous usage stats to Google" if you want. There is no need to "Set Google as my default search engine in Internet Explorer" if you do not want to.

Download and install SimpleViewer template for Picasa

1. Download the SimpleViewer template.

2. Double-click to open the simpleviewer_picasa_template.zip file downloaded to your desktop. This will unzip the file into a folder with the same name right next to your zip file.

3. Open the Picasa templates folder, located at My Computer > C: > Program Files > google > Picasa3 > web > templates.

4. Drag the simpleviewer_picasa_template folder into the templates window.

5. Close and relaunch Picasa.

Download and install WinSCP

1. Go to winscp.net/eng/download.php.

2. Select the Installation package for the most current release.

3. Choose Save File.

4. Double-click to open the installation file saved on your desktop.

5. If prompted, click Run to run this file.

6. Choose your language. English is set to default.

7. Click next on the welcome screen to begin.

8. Read the License Agreement, then click I Agree.

9. Choose "typical installation" as the type of installation. Click next.

10. The initial user settings should be set to "Explorer-like interface." Click next.

11. Click Install.

12. When the installation is done, click Finish.

Set up WinSCP Connections

1. When WinSCP is launched, click New to set up a new connection.

2. The host name will be unix.k-state.edu with a port number 22. The username and password is the same as your K-State eID and Webmail password. (Remember to change your password when your Webmail password changes.)

3. Leave the "Private key file" field blank, and make sure your "File protocol" is set to SFTP.

4. On the left side menu under "Enviroment," click on Directories. Your remote directory will be /usr/local/data/www/yoursite. "Yoursite" is your web directory. (For example, New Student Services' website is http://www.k-state.edu/nss, and its web directory is "nss.") Click Save.

5. Under "Session," select "Stored sessions." Select your site, and click Login.

6. You will be taken to an authentication screen. Click Continue, and then type in your password to finally connect to the server.
