Format your text
See the quick quide for where and when to use each style
In order to add styles, you must first have text in Contribute, and it must be clear of all prior formatting, including miscellaneous point sizes applied in either a program such as Word or used in a previous webpage. See the Insert text section for more information.
Formatting text in Contribute
Paste or type the unformatted text into Contribute (You may format text as you type it, if you are typing directly into Contribute, but for the sake of demonstration...).

The box for applying styles (11) to text is located in the upper left.

Highlight the type in an area to change. Select the style from the pull-down menu. In the example below, the area selected is the page title, so Heading 1 is approriate.

You will note the text is capitalized, although it was not keyed in as all caps. This is because of the style being applied to the text.

Next, a Heading 2 is formatted the same way, except that you select Heading 2 rather than Heading 1 as the style. In the example below, "Apply for admission" becomes a Heading 2.

Continue selecting appropriate styles according to the quick guide by highlighting and selecting areas of copy and repeating the above illustrated steps until you have completed formatting the page.

If you make a mistake, highlight the type again. Then select Normal. Failure to return the type to normal can cause two styles to be applied to the text at the same time, and one may become "stuck" onto the type.

Then, after turning the type to normal, you can put it in another style. If another style remains on the type even after it is in normal, make sure a hard return is being used above and below the type you are formatting. If it still remains on the text, try copying it, pasting it in another program to clear the formatting, deleting the copy that will not work from Contribute, and pasting the unformatted copy in place.
