Letterhead
The most frequent contact with K-State's many audiences is through letterhead.
Letterheads are for offices and departments within the university; business cards are for individuals.

Standard items that must appear:
1. One of the three logo variations. The logo version you choose for your department or office must be used consistently on letterhead and envelopes.
2. The official name of the unit: department, division, office, college, agency, or administrative office.
The lowest administrative level should always be the primary identification; intermediate units and college designations are unnecessary, since they are superfluous to a mailing address. In most cases, it is appropriate to list only the unit name, since letterhead serves to provide an address rather than to provide hierarchy.
The address block aligns with the K in Kansas State University.
3. Street address. Elements in the address must appear in the order required by the post office, so that all mail is in the appropriate format for automation and corresponds with your unit address in the national database.
The last line of the address includes Manhattan, KS 66506-xxxx (xxxx representing the zip plus 4 code address for a specific unit). If you do not know this designation, please contact the manager of Facilities Support Services at 2-1718.
The second line from the bottom must match the street address format required by the U.S. Post Office. The format requires that:
a. The room number must appear first, without the word "room" and without a zero in front of the number. All addresses must include a room number. Room numbers that are a combination of numbers and letters must appear with the number first and the letter at the end.
b. The building name must be followed by the designation "Hall" (i.e., 5 Anderson Hall) or "Building" (i.e., 104 Pittman Building), as appropriate.
c. Occupants of Bluemont Hall and of the buildings that make up the Veterinary Medical Complex need an additional line in their addresses because of duplication with Manhattan street names.
Occupants of Bluemont Hall:
1100 Mid-Campus Drive. A line with the department room number and the building name (492 Bluemont Hall) may appear on the line above the street address:
Department of Pyschology
492 Bluemont Hall
1100 Mid-Campus Drive
Manhattan, KS 66506-5302
Occupants of the Veterinary Medical Complex:
- Coles Hall: 1600 Denison Avenue
- Trotter Hall: 1700 Denison Avenue
- Mosier Hall: 1800 Denison Avenue
A room number may also appear with the building name on the line above the street address:
College of Veterinary Medicine
101 Trotter Hall
1700 Denison Avenue
Manhattan, KS 66506-5601
4. Unit phone numbers, fax numbers, e-mail addresses, and World Wide Web homepage addresses may appear on the letterhead (in this order). The names, phone numbers, or e-mail addresses of individuals are not to be placed on the letterhead.
5. Sidebar information and secondary logos are discouraged on the letterhead; however, they may be incorporated into the design with the approval of the director of University Publications.
6. Slogans, mottoes, or other information are not permitted on the letterhead units unless required by federal policies.
An information sheet, Letterhead sidebars and secondary logos, describing the policies and procedures for adding this information is available from University Publications and K-State Printing Services.
