The logo combines both K-State and Kansas State University, the primary names we are known by.
The signature typeface for K-State is a customized version of Arrus italics, an elegant typeface with nice curves and a variety of thick and thin lines. This serif typeface reflects the tradition of K-State, yet also reflects K-State's contemporary mission and activities. The combination of curves, straight lines, and oval shapes are repeated in the Anderson Hall and PowerCat symbols. Kansas State University appears in Futura, which is also used for the body copy on the letterhead, envelopes, and business cards.
No other type or graphic elements can be combined with the signature type except as shown on the various publications in this manual. The design is standard and cannot be altered.
The logos must be reproduced from authorized sources and may not be redrawn or reproportioned.
System users
The official logo system is to be used by:
- All units and agencies of the university.
- Any K-State unit funded by the state of Kansas.
- Any enterprise with funds administered by the university regardless of source.
- Any nonstudent unit identifying itself with Kansas State University.
K-State purple
K-State's official color, royal purple, is best reproduced with ink called Pantone violet (Pantone Matching System).
Preprints
All three versions of the logo have been preprinted in purple on letterhead, envelopes, and business cards at K-State Printing Services. All additional information will be printed in black.
Ordering
Orders for K-State stationery are processed through K-State Printing Services to ensure consistent editorial and graphic standards. Printing requests that do not follow proper format are forwarded to the director of University Publications for review.
