Note: Fees listed with classes onthis site reflect full time, resident status. Special Privilege fees will be added for on-campus classes when the student is not a full time student. Out-of-state fees also apply and will override the fee listed for each course. Fees in addition to the base credit hour fee generally apply in order to cover other costs associated with offering the courses. To get an accurate fee assessment based on your enrollment status, locate the course on the Global Campus website for additional fee information.

Ballroom Dance I — DANCE-599
Introduction to the principles of ballroom dancing. Includes dance terminology, dance position, correct body alignment and positions, and partnering. Techniques such as open and close positions, leading and following, and a variety of steps will be emphasized. The jitterbug, American waltz, foxtrot, and Latin steps will be taught.

Yoga — DANCE599
This course will introduce the student to the fundamentals of Yoga postures and breathing, sequencing of exercises for a safe practice, ten or more postures and an introduction to the history and philosophy of Yoga.
Please bring a yoga/exercise mat and wear comfortable clothing that allows a full range of movement. It is best not to eat for at least two hours before the class.

Yoga 2 — DANCE599
This course will detail ways that the student can use Yoga practice creatively to reach specific goals and respect individual needs. Practice areas will include adapting asanas and movement to the individual, using a variety of pranayama techniques, and a more detailed look at Patanjali's Yoga Sutra.
Please bring a yoga/exercise mat and wear comfortable clothing that allows a full range of movement. It is best not to eat for at least two hours before the class.

QiForze
QiFORZE is a pre-choreograph program that allows the participants to have consistency in each workout. Qignition programs offer a progressive choreography layering system with customization tools, which allows the instructor to modify intensity, complexity, and form for students at any skill level. QiFORZE a Qignition program is a motivating program with unique foundation movement patterns.  This is a fast-paced, time-efficient routine that integrates movement to music. Use the natural resistance of gravity to become stronger, more powerful, and more coordinated.

Middle Eastern Dance (Belly Dance)
This dance technique course will cover beginning level Middle Eastern dance movements, including hip and rib cage isolations, arm and hand movements, turns, traveling steps, percussive body movements, veil work, stage dynamics, combinations, and choreography. Students will also be introduced to the fundamentals of Middle Eastern music and rhythms, history, culture, and costuming, as they apply to the dance. This class is open to both men and women, however all students are expected to participate.
Please wear comfortable clothing that allows for ease of movement. Form-fitting clothing allows you and the instructor to check for proper alignment and technique. Footwear: bare feet, ballet slippers, or dance sandals.

Salsa Dance
This is an introductory course in social dancing that emphasizes technique, partnering, musicality, and style.  Demonstrations, performances, and videos may supplement the course.
Partners are welcome but not required for this class; partners may enroll for non-credit through UFM by calling 785-539-8763. No textbook is required for this course; however, ordering information for optional text/DVD/dance shoes is available from the instructor.

Zumba Dance Dance 599

Zumba is a fusion of Latin, international and hip hop music with dancxe themes geared toward all levels of class participants. The dance routines feature fun and basic choreolography that is easily interpreted for all levels of dancers. Instructor: Jennifer Brenner jennib@ksu.edu

This group keyboard class is designed for beginners with little or no previous keyboard instruction. Basic concepts to be studied include: note and rhythm reading, fundamental theory, basic chord-building, simple improvisation, and group and individual playing. Outside practice is essential for progress in this class. Required text: Adult Piano Method, Bk 1, by Fred Kern, et al. Hal Leonard Publ (2005), Available at Glenn's Music, 413 Ponytz Ave (539-1926).
