AT&T gift brings welcoming addition to Welcome Center

Submitted by Communications and Marketing

A $100,000 gift from AT&T will make the planned Welcome Center at Kansas State University even more welcoming.

The gift is for an information display in the center, which will be in the east side of Memorial Stadium. Fundraising for the center is under way. This special facility will be one of the first in the country to provide a central location for students and families to connect with new student services, admissions, financial aid, housing and dining services, and career and employment services.

The AT&T information display will be a multiscreen audio/visual centerpiece for the lobby area of the Welcome Center. This feature will be a prominent part of the welcoming experience, transmitting greetings, university information and highlights, and news and weather information.

AT&T is committed to advancing education, strengthening communities and improving lives.

"By investing in the Welcome Center at Kansas State University, we know we're making a positive impact on students and their families," said Steve Hahn, president of AT&T Kansas. "We strive to support programs and projects that create learning opportunities and promote academics. With new student services and career and employment services being housed in the Welcome Center, we know we'll be helping students at both the beginning and end of their college careers."

Pat Bosco, vice president for student life and dean of students at Kansas State University, said the Welcome Center is an important addition to the university.

"Located in the east side of Memorial Stadium, the Welcome Center preserves and honors our past while preparing our students for the future," Bosco said. "We deeply appreciate friends of K-State, such as AT&T, helping to make the Welcome Center a reality and in the process, supporting our students through every facet of their time at K-State."

Philanthropic contributions to K-State are coordinated by the Kansas State University Foundation. The foundation staff works with university partners to build lifelong relationships with alumni, friends, faculty, staff and students through involvement and investment in the university.
