Kansas State University students earn state athletic training society honors

Submitted by Communications and Marketing

The Kansas Athletic Training Society is recognizing several students in Kansas State University's athletic training program for outstanding academic achievement.

Four students are earning the society's All-Academic Honors, four students are earning second team All-Academic Honors and 10 students are earning honorable mention.

Honorees must be juniors or seniors with a minimum 3.8 grade point average.

The athletic training education program is a part of the department of human nutrition in Kansas State University's College of Human Ecology. The program has been accredited since 1992.

Athletic training continues to be a hot health degree career field, according to Shawna Jordan, program director. Athletic trainers are allied health care professionals who specialize in the prevention, assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of injuries and illnesses, often with a focus on athletes and athletic injuries. Graduates of the program go on to physical therapy schools. The job market for athletic trainers ranges from traditional sports coverage to military and performing arts medical care.
