K-State Libraries offers streaming video resources for research

Valuable research resources aren't limited to text. Video resources can bring concepts to life in the classroom, or provide an easy way to get an introduction to a topic. K-State Libraries is always seeking valuable scholarly resources that include online video. Check out the resources below, useful for teaching and research projects in a wide variety of majors and disciplines. 

Journal of Visualized Experiments, or JoVE
The innovative design of Journal of Visualized Experiments brings scientific knowledge to life with strong visual presentation of researchers and their work. Each JoVE article provides unmatched capability to demonstrate the authors’ research expertise, and preserve the experimental knowledge in the authors’ labs. 

American History in Video  
This databases features more than 440 hours of video on various topics in American history. Sources include newsreels, government and commercial films, and significant documentaries. Researchers can find both contemporary films and works that analyze events long after they occurred.

BBC Shakespeare Plays
Thirty-seven of William Shakespeare’s best known works produced by the BBC. Plays can be watched either in their entirety or act by act. Public performance rights are included for each play, making them easy to use in the classroom.

Dance in Video
From the ballets of Stravinsky to documentaries on William Forsythe and Merce Cunningham, Dance in Video offers more than 500 hours of streaming video from the 1950s to today. The collection includes ballet, tap, jazz, contemporary, experimental, and improvisational dance, as well as forerunners of the forms and the pioneers of modern concert dance.

March of Time
The March of Time is a collection of restored newsreels originally shown in theaters between 1935 and 1967. Topics include science, social movements, wars, entertainment and more. Users can browse by subject or event, or search by keyword. Transcripts of the narration are also provided.

Theater in Video
Notable, ground-breaking productions of more than 250 of the world’s most important plays, together with more than 100 video documentaries. Bookmark specific scenes, monologues, and staging examples and then include those (online links) in papers and course reserves.
