Email upgrade committee analyzing survey results and finalizing report

Submitted by Melissa Morris

The email upgrade committee is finalizing its report. The committee has received positive and negative feedback about the survey of email options sent to all Kansas State University faculty, staff and students. One of the purposes of the survey was to educate the campus about the available options. While the timing for the survey was not ideal, the committee’s report is due on Dec. 20. The committee members wanted feedback to be as inclusive as possible of the K-State community.

Why were the options not explained? The committee debated providing details about each option, but it was decided to include the links to each option instead of a description on the survey. The committee members did not want to bias the judgment of the campus audience about any of the options. All survey recipients had the opportunity to click on a link and read more about each option.

The survey closed on Friday, Dec. 7. Approximately 3,190 K-Staters completed the survey with response rates of 8 percent for students, 24.5 percent for faculty and 18.5 percent for staff. More than 1,900 comments were collected through the survey. The committee has sorted through the comments to identify common themes. The committee members have analyzed the survey in detail.

The responses to each survey categorized by staff, faculty and students are provided below. The student surveys were sent out in five batches, therefore the student summaries are provided in five separate reports.
