Provost lecture brings UCLA physiologist to campus

The biochemistry department, in cooperation with the university distinguished professors and the office of the provost, will be hosting Ron Kaback, a professor at the University of California, Los Angeles at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31. He will be sharing his discoveries with the lacY gene.  The lecture will be in Town Hall at the Leadership Studies Building and is open to the public.

Refreshments will begin at 3:30 p.m.

Kaback is professor of physiology, microbiology and molecular genetics at the Molecular Biology Institute at University of California, Los Angeles. He is the former chair of biochemistry at the Roche Institute of Molecular Biology, a member of the National Academy of Sciences, the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, the American Academy of Microbiology and the American Biophysical Society. Kaback's research focuses on the structure and mechanism of energy-transducing membrane transport proteins.
