Former U.S. Rep. Bob Inglis lecture on conservative climate change policy options tonight

Submitted by Ben Champion

Tonight at 7 in the Town Hall Room of the Leadership Studies Building, former U.S. Rep. Bob Inglis of South Carolina will lecture on how conservatives can lead the climate policy debate in Washington, pursuing policies to address climate change based on conservative policy principles.

Bob Inglis was elected to the U.S. Congress in 1992. He represented Greenvill-Spartanburg, S.C., from 1993-1998, unsuccessfully ran for U.S. Senate in 1998, and returned to the House in 2004. He lost the South Carolina Republican primary in June 2010. Since then, Inglis has championed free-enterprise solutions to America's energy security and climate change challenges. He recently launched the Energy and Enterprise Initiative, based at George Mason University, where he serves as executive director.

The lecture is free and open to the public, and is part of the program of events for the Adapting to a Changing Climate on the Central Great Plains conference, which continues throughout the day on Wednesday, Sept. 5.  The conference is designed to educate about climate science, adaptation and mitigation options, and education and communication challenges related to climate change. It is also intended to enhance research and education networks at K-State, across Kansas and the Central Great Plains to address climate change.
