K-State CrossFit offering new Functional Fitness and Mobility class

Submitted by Katie Heinrich

Come try out the new Functional Fitness and Mobility class for free at noon Monday, April 30, and Wednesday, May 2. This low-intensity training class will focus on strength training, mobility and skill building, and will include a full-body workout.

What is it?

Functional Fitness and Mobility is a low-intensity training class where learning and mastering technique and form is the emphasis rather than trying to achieve the fastest time or heaviest lift. This class is designed to focus on personal achievements in a noncompetitive environment.

Each session will include a strength or fitness skill component, as well as a mobility workout of the day, emphasizing the importance of stretching and recovery. Each class will also include a full-body workout. Classes are small with more personal attention, limited to eight people.

Is Functional Fitness and Mobility for me?

Yes! Functional Fitness and Mobility is open to anyone of ability who is at least 18 years of age. This class is perfect for the beginner who may feel intimidated to join a larger group class; students, faculty, or staff members who want to learn new exercise skills; someone with a minor or chronic injury who could use some mobility work; or for a competitive athlete who wants to improve their skills and mobility.

Functional Fitness and Mobility will be offered from 12-1 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays in Natatorium 4. The cost is $50 per month with the first two sessions, April 30 and May 2, being free. The program's coaches are: Shely Weinrich, Bryan Heinrich and Katie Heinrich.
