Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service 2017

Submitted by Kaitlin Long

The Staley School of Leadership Studies at K-State and the Manhattan community will come together Jan. 16, 2017, for the Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service.

Volunteers will be placed at organizations in and around the Manhattan community from 9 a.m. to noon.

This Day of Service is recognized all across the country in honor of King and is being led by the world's leading organization for volunteering and service, Points of Light and the Corporation for National and Community Service. Millions of Americans will come together for this day of national service and dialogue to honor his memory.

King called for social justice and opportunity. He asked that we bridge differences, come together in unity to do our best and to lend a helping hand to our neighbors. To lend a hand to the Manhattan community, HandsOn Kansas State has several events and conversations planned to celebrate.

Register as an individual volunteer or contact HandsOn Kansas State at 785-532-6085 or handson@k-state.edu to register as a volunteer group or for more information.
