2016 All-University Career Fair expands to three days

Submitted by Ana Landsverk

Representatives from more than 300 companies, industries and agencies are registered for the All-University Career Fair. The fair is expanding to three days, each day pertaining to certain majors. Students are encouraged to attend the days corresponding to their major. The fair will take place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Bramlage Coliseum.

• Tuesday, Sept. 20 — recruiting majors in agriculture, arts and sciences, business and human Ecology.

• Wednesday, Sept. 21 — recruiting all majors.

• Thursday, Sept. 22 — recruiting in engineering and technology.

The fair is for K-State students, but is also open to members of the Manhattan community.

Cerner, Koch Industries and State Street are just a few of the distinguished employers attending the fair. A full list of participating employers can be found on the Career Center website. After logging into "My Career Center Account," click the "Career Fairs and Events" tab, and then select "Career Fair" to get an up-to-date list of registered employers.

It's important for students to dress professionally and bring multiple copies of their resume.

Following the Career Fair, employers may offer qualified students next day interviews, which will be from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 21, through Friday, Sept. 23, in multiple campus locations.

A shuttle bus will run between the K-State Student Union and Bramlage every 20 minutes, beginning at 10:45 a.m. to 4 p.m., all three days of the career fair.

The Career Center hosts several events prior to help students prepare for the Career Fair.

Students can bring their resume for a quick review and browse through the Career Center's gently-used professional attire at the Career Closet and Daytime Drop-Ins from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. Monday-Thursday.

Students can learn how to dress professionally, identify potential employers, use social media effectively and network with recruiters at "How to Succeed at the Career Fair" at 4 p.m. Sept. 15 in the Berney Family Welcome Center theater.

Students also will have the opportunity to get a quick resume critique the night before the fair at the Late Night Resume Madness event from 7-10 p.m. Sept. 19 at the Berney Family Welcome Center.
