James Sherow, professor of history, will give a public lecture at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 13, in 231 Ackert Hall Room 231.

Sherow will show repeat photographs taken by Alexander Gardner in 1867 and John Charlton in the late 1990s and early 2000s to highlight ecological change. Sherow's historical interpretation of these photographs was the basis of his award-winning book "Railroad Empire Across the Heartland" published in 2014.

This talk is presented for students participating in the capstone course of the natural resources and environmental science secondary major and is open to the general public as part of the Natural Resources and Environmental Science Seminar Series. Undergraduate students interested in natural resources, environmental science and sustainability issues are especially encouraged to attend.

The natural resources and environmental science secondary major and its seminar series are generously supported by the Office of the Provost, College of Agriculture, College of Arts & Sciences and biological and agricultural engineering department.
