Submitted by Ashley Bailey

In the award's second year, Kyle Pelton, ambassador and scheduler for K-State's New Student Services, was named K-State Student Employee of the Year. Pelton is a senior in accounting and from Ulysses.

"Kyle Pelton eats, sleeps and breathes the principles of the Wildcat Way. His enthusiasm and love for K-State is easily seen on a daily basis as he works toward New Student Services' mission of assisting students and families in the college search process and transition to the K-State family," said Cole Grieves, assistant coordinator for New Student Services. "His belief in family values can be seen in the way he interacts with his peers. Kyle treats everyone as an equal and is an excellent role model for students with whom he interacts."

All nominees were recognized for their hard work and dedication as student employees at K-State during the award ceremony on April 13 at the K-State Alumni Center.

Joe Tinker, student body vice president, addressed students, families and friends quoting the late Steve Jobs: "Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven't found it yet, keep looking. Don't settle. As with all matters of the heart, you'll know when you find it."

Pelton was honored as Student Employee of the Year due to his exceptional reliability, quality of work, initiative, professionalism and adherence to the principles of the Wildcat Way.
