Writing research papers is something that almost every college student is going to encounter. There's really no avoiding it. Between Expos I and II, Public Speaking, and writing intensive majors like English, anthropology, history and so on, writing is going to sneak up in your college career at some point.
K-State's Writing Center welcomes all K-State undergraduate students regardless of department or academic background. During the week, you can sign up for a free 30-minute appointment by stopping by the Writing Center in Room 122D, at the end of the hall on the right, in the English/Counseling Services Building.
On Sundays, the Writing Center gets even more awesome as K-State Libraries and the Writing Center team up to present you with the ultimate research paper duo: Wildcat Writing and Research Consultations. From 7 to 9 p.m. on Sundays, the Writing Center hops over to neighboring Hale Library and offers free, walk-in writing consultations – no appointment necessary.
This semester, Wildcat Writing and Research Consultations will set up shop on Hale's second floor in the group study area near the whiteboards, a quick jaunt away from Library Help where a librarian is available for your research questions. A library reference student will also be on hand for peer research help. If you don't see the Writing Center folks there or it's a busy night, or all of the tables were grabbed before they got there, Wildcat Writing and Research Consultations may also convene on the Room 301 on the third floor.
You can visit Library Help on the second floor if you have any questions. We'll always be staffed by a friendly librarian until 10 p.m. on Sundays.
So give the Writing Center a try! Whether you've been writing short stories since you were 10 or still can't figure out the difference between "there" and "their," everyone could use a little polish to their writing. So why not take 15 or 30 minutes and go the extra mile to give your research or papers something special!
