Free tax preparation assistance available

Submitted by Jennifer Wilson

Free tax preparation assistance is available again this year through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program sponsored by K-State Research and Extension, Riley County.

To qualify for assistance, your household income must be less than $50,000, and you must be filing a simple 1040 return.

Assistance will be offered beginning Jan. 30 at the Manhattan Public Library in the Technology Classroom.

Site hours are:

Mondays, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Tuesdays, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Wednesdays, 1-7 p.m.
Thursdays,  12-5 p.m.

This site prepares simple IRS 1040 tax returns and Kansas returns only. We cannot itemize returns or prepare returns for members of the military, international students or states other than Kansas. All returns are electronically filed and direct deposit of refunds is available.

Appointments are required and can be made by phone at  785-565-6426 or email vitataxes@gmail.com.
