Military to honor four university members this afternoon with high public service awards

Four Kansas State University members are receiving top military honors for their public service to Fort Riley and its soldiers at an awards ceremony at 4:30 p.m. today in K-State Alumni Center's Ballrooms B and C.   

Receiving the U.S. Army's Department of the Army Outstanding Civilian Service Awards will be:

  • John Currie, K-State athletic director
  • Todd Holmberg, executive director of McCain Auditorium
  • Briana Nelson-Goff, professor of family studies and human services and director of the Institute for the Health and Security of Military Families
  • Daryl Youngman, associate professor of K-State Libraries

Maj. Gen. Paul Funk, commanding general of the 1st Infantry Division at Fort Riley, and his senior leadership team will formally present each recipient the Department of the Army Outstanding Civilian Service Award, which consists of a medal. The award recognizes the four honorees years of distinguished service to the U.S. Army as leading members in the K-State-Fort Riley partnership.
