Deeter earns leadership roles in national sales association

Submitted by Communications and Marketing

Dawn Deeter, professor of marketing in the College of Business Administration, has been elected vice president of the University Sales Center Alliance for the 2013-2015 term, and will be president for the 2015-2017 term.

The alliance, an association of collegiate sales centers, was established in 2002 to increase the professionalism of the sales field, improve sales education at the college level, and assist university sales centers to develop their programs. The alliance partners with faculty members at universities with various backgrounds and areas of expertise who support the advancements of the sales profession through teaching, research and outreach.

"We are proud of Dawn Deeter's new appointment with the University Sales Center Alliance," said Kevin Gwinner, head of the marketing department in the college. "This appointment shows how, under her direction, the college's sales program is being recognized as a leader in sales education."

At the College of Business Administration, Deeter is the J.J. Vanier distinguished chair in business administration for relationship selling and marketing, a faculty of distinction and director of the National Strategic Selling Institute.

Upcoming institute activities include taking 13 members of the Sales Cat Sales Team to four sales competitions in the fall semester, including: National Team Selling Competition at Indiana University; Great Northwoods Sales Warm-Up at the University of Wisconsin, Eau Claire; International Collegiate Sales Competition at Florida State University; and RBI National Sales Challenge at William Paterson University. In March 2014, six students will attend the National Collegiate Sales Competition at Kennesaw State University.

On Oct. 16, the university's Edward Jones Sales Competition is open for students to enter and compete to become a member of the National Sales Cat Team.
