Quynh Nguyen selected as new country coordinator for the university's Vietnam office

Submitted by Mary K. Pyle

Quynh Nguyen has been hired as the new office of international programs country coordinator for the university's international recruiting office in Vietnam.

Nguyen previously served as an investment analyst for Maj Invest Vietnam, advising clients about educational investments.

"The more I learned about the great potential of education in my country, I became interested in this this field and applied for the position with Capstone Vietnam — the K-State recruiting office in Vietnam," Nguyen said.

She will report to Mark Ashwill, managing director of Capstone Vietnam.

"We are fortunate that Quynh could be on campus this week to experience our university for the first time, participate in the New International Student Orientation Week, meet our international admissions and recruiting staff, and meet others on campus," said Jim Lewis, director of international admissions and recruiting for the university's office of international programs.

"I am excited to make the move from finance to education and to visit K-State so I can better guide our potential recruits about the many possibilities the university offers," Nguyen said.

"We are very optimistic about Vietnam because of its population of more than 90 million people, being the 14th largest country in the world and the rise of English as the second most popular language," Lewis said.

Vietnam is the third international office established by Kansas State University. An office in China was opened in 2006 and an office in India began in 2008.

Quynh earned her Bachelor of Business Arts in finance from St. Thomas University in Florida, where she was a scholarship student and on the dean’s list. Before leaving for the U.S., she attended the Hanoi-Amsterdam High School for the Gifted.
