Trend Micro Antivirus campus service migrating to new servers Aug. 5

Submitted by Anthony Phillips

Kansas State University's centrally administered Trend Micro Antivirus service will begin migrating to a new infrastructure starting Monday, Aug. 5. During the transition period, computer clients that are attached to one of the central servers will be automatically migrated to a new server.

No user action is required to initiate the migration, but users may get notifications from the Trend Micro client or see changes in the Trend Micro icon on their computers. This may include needing to restart the computer for the migration to finish.

Because of the way that computer clients communicate with their particular server, it is difficult to predict when a given client will be migrated. It may take several weeks to complete the entire process across campus.

For more information on how to tell if your computer will be affected and what to expect when it happens, visit the K-State Antivirus Software page www.k-state.edu/its/antivirus/2013_migration.
