Interacting with Difficult Visitors scheduled for July 23, Sept. 10

Submitted by Gina Lowe

Heather Reed and Laurel Koch from the office of student life will present Interacting with Difficult Visitors, WTD160, from 9-10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 23, in Edwards Hall, and from 1:30-3 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 10 in Room 226 of the K-State Student Union. These sessions are identical so select the one that best fits your schedule.

Office staff is often the first contact that individuals have with a department. There are times when individuals who come to the office are frustrated and/or angry and lash out. This session will provide de-escalating communication strategies, methods of dealing with a difficult or threatening person, as well as information on dealing with suspicious persons.

This session is intended for front-line office staff. If you have a large staff and would like this presentation for your particular area, please contact Reed or Koch at 785-532-6432.

You may enroll in one of two ways:

  1. Through HRIS Self Enrollment,  or
  2. Email training@k-state.edu. Please include your name, employee ID number, course title and session number.
