Academic Advising Institute registration open

Submitted by Steven Dandaneau

The office of the vice provost for undergraduate studies, in collaboration with the National Academic Advising Association, or NACADA, is presenting the inaugural Kansas State University/NACADA Summer Undergraduate Advising Institute, May 22-23.

K-State faculty and staff with an interest in learning more about academic advising are encouraged to participate in this two-day program, which is modeled in part on NACADA's five-day summer institute.

Participation is free for the first 100 registrants; we will endeavor, however, to accommodate all who are interested in participation. To register, please email Dorothy Smith at dorothy@k-state.edu with your name, position at K-State and any dietary restrictions.

Those who represent or who are significantly involved in college and department advising programs, office of student life and undergraduate studies faculty and staff, members of student success programs, as well as individuals and teams of researchers — faculty and graduate students alike — whose scholarship bears on academic advising, are each and all highly encouraged to participate as well as to display posters and/or staff informational tables during a period specially designed for such sharing. To propose a poster or table, please email Smith at dorothy@k-state.edu with a synopsis. Easels and tables will be provided.

Finally, please email Steve Dandaneau at dandaneau@k-state.edu with any questions or concerns. The planning committee -- Steve Dandaneau, David Griffin, Bente Janda, Kent Kerby, Alison Wheatley, Christine Wilson and NACADA's executive director Charlie Nutt -- as well as many others who have joined together to make this institute as exciting and informative as possible, thank you ahead of time for considering the value of participation in this campuswide effort to support excellence in academic advising for the benefit of Kansas State University's diverse undergraduate students.
