National Academic Advising Association webinar on April 24

The next National Academic Advising Association, or NACADA, webinar for the spring semester is "Advising Strategies for Students who are on Academic Probation, Facing Dismissal or Seeking Reinstatement" at 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 24. The webinar will be hosted in Room 226 at the K-State Student Union.

Current National Academic Advising Association probation, dismissal, reinstatement issues interest group chair Joy Cox will be joined by a new panel of interest group members who will discuss their work in meeting the needs of these students. Topics to be addressed include:

Models for specific programs that work with students on probation, including international institutions

  • Early alert mechanisms
  • Methods for intervention
  • Materials for working with students on probation, including online components

The moderator is Tyann Cherry, senior academic advisor at Webster University and NACADA web event advisory board member.

Panelist: Joy Cox, academic advisor for the School of Natural Sciences at Indiana University Southeast and NACADA probation, dismissal, reinstatement issues interest group chair.

Panelist: Stacey Braun, assistant director for the student advising center at Emporia State University, NACADA probation, dismissal, reinstatement issues interest group member.

Panelist: Tina Knox, coordinator of undergraduate instruction and advising at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and NACADA probation, dismissal, reinstatement issues interest group member.

Panelist: Erin Stone, undergraduate program administrator for the Faculty of Arts at the University of Manitoba International Perspective.
