Geography doctoral student wins national remote sensing scholarship

By Chuck Martin

Lynn Brien, doctoral candidate in geography, has been awarded the prestigious Lortz Scholarship by the American Society of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing.

She is the first K-State student to win the award in the 20 years. The award of $1,000 will be used to support her dissertation research on "Modeling Vegetation Productivity of Coastal Louisiana Marshes: A Remote Sensing Approach."

Kevin Price, professor of agronomy and geography, is supervising Brien's doctoral research.
