Geomorphology Volume

Richard Marston, university distinguished professor of geography, is co-editor with Markus Stoffel of the University of Berne, Switzerland, of a new 397-page book with 36 chapters published by Elsevier, titled "Mountain and Hillslope Geomorphology."

This is volume 7 of a 14-volume, 6,386-page "Treatise on Geomorphology," which is designed to provide a useful synthesis of the discipline as well as highlighting productive research directions.

According to the publisher, "The changing focus and approach of geomorphic research suggests that the time is opportune for a summary of the state of discipline. The number of peer-reviewed papers published in geomorphic journals has grown steadily for more than two decades and, more importantly, the diversity of authors with respect to geographic location and disciplinary background, such as geography, geology, ecology, civil engineering, computer science, geographic information science and others, has expanded dramatically."
