English language program faculty present at TESOL conference

Several English language program faculty presented and served on panels at the TESOL International Association Convention, March 20-23, in Dallas. Speakers and their presentations included:

  • "Creating a Dynamic Interactive Electronic Newsletter for Alumni," poster presentation by Leena Chakrabarti and Jenell Williams.
  • “Combining Common, Easy to Use Software to Teach a Multiple Aspect Process,” Electronic Village presentation by Max Stinnett.   
  • “Teaching International Teachers to Use Technology Using Free Web Tools” session by Christina Kitson, Jenell Williams and Max Stinnett.
  • “Bridging the Disciplinary Divide in Teaching Composition to Multilingual Students” session by Linda Henriksen of K-State and Elena Lawrick of Reading Area Community College. 
  • “Issues, Principles and Practice in the Improvement of Productive Skills;
    Oral production: Evaluating Progress and Assessing Proficiency” academic session by Abby Franchitti of K-State, and faculty from Chicago State University, the University of Kansas, Carnegie Mello University and the University of Southern California.
  • "Initiatives to Promote Student Success at University-Based IEPs," panel presentation by Leena Chakrabarti, Ellen Conroy and Laura Phillips-Zee.  The expert panel consisted of faculty from Kansas State University, Texas Christian University, University of Kansas and University of North Texas.
  • Abby Franchitti was also named assistant chair of the Higher Education Interest Section for a second term and awarded a certificate of appreciation for service in the first term.
