Kansas legislative committees start budget hearings

By Sue Peterson

The Kansas Senate Ways and Means, and House Appropriations Committee have begun hearing on Gov. Brownback's budget proposals for higher education and Kansas State University.

President Kirk Schulz testified before the Senate Ways and Means Higher Education Subcommittee. The testimony can be found at http://www.k-state.edu/govrelations/state/KSU%20Budget%20Presentation.pdf.

In addition Andy Tompkins has also testified before Senate Ways and Means Higher Education Subcommittee. The testimony can be found at http://www.k-state.edu/govrelations/state/SWAM%20KBOR%20Overview.pdf.

Both hearings focused on the important role higher education plays in the state and stressed the need to adopt the Governor's budget recommendations for K-State and higher education.
