February New Faculty Institute seminar: Online, distance education

Submitted by Thomas Gould

First- and second-year faculty are invited to attend a session addressing distance education and instructional design at 2 p.m. Feb. 15 at the Beach Museum.

Ben Ward, an instructional designer with the university’s Information Technology Assistance Center; Linda Yarrow, assistant professor in human nutrition; and Rick Scheidt, professor in family studies and human services, will share their experiences with online education and teaching with technology.

The second half of the presentations will include program coordinators with the Division of Continuing Education, who will introduce how you can offer your courses online, as well as create and use online platforms for other projects and non-credit activities.

This is an excellent opportunity to both fine-tune your current offerings, but also extend your educational reach globally. These speakers are taking time away from their pressing schedules to offer ideas on how you can enhance your teaching platforms. Snacks and drinks provided.

What: New Faculty Institute.

When: 2 p.m. Feb. 15.

Where: Beach Museum.
