First Vernon Larson International Lecture of the spring semester Feb. 12

The first Vernon Larson International Lecture of the spring semester will be Feb. 12. Sabri Ciftci will present "The Arab Spring and Freedom's Future: Local and Global Consequences of Arab Uprisings."

All Vernon Larson Lectures take place in the ballroom at the Holiday Inn, 17th Street and Anderson Avenue, from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. Reservations are required for the optional lunch served at 11:30 a.m., with the free presentation beginning at 12:15 p.m. The cost of lunch is $15 per individual, $75 for whole year or $90 to sponsor a table for eight.

Ciftci received his master's and doctoral degrees in political science from Florida State University in Tallahassee. He joined K-State in 2008 as an assistant professor in the department of political science. He is an expert on Turkish and Middle East politics.  He teaches undergraduate courses in Middle East Politics and International Politics of Middle East, and graduate courses on Islam and Politics and Comparative Politics. He was a visiting professor during 2009-2010 at Cumhuriyet University, Turkey.
