Music professors present at international conference in South Korea

Craig B. Parker, associate professor of music, and Nora A. Lewis, assistant professor of music, recently presented papers at the biennial College Music Society international conference in Seoul and Gyeongju, South Korea.

Parker lectured on "East Asian Elements in the Compositions of Alan Hovhaness" in Seoul on July 4. Lewis presented "Interactions of Asian and Western Traditions in 20th Century Music for Oboe" in Gyeongju on July 9. Parker also chaired a session devoted to the music of Frank Zappa, Igor Stravinsky and John LaMontaine on July 5 in Seoul.
