By Karen Garrett

A K-State plant pathology professor has assisted in the development of new policies for the conservation and utilization of genetic resources, including microbial genetic resources, at the international level.

Karen Garrett, professor of plant pathology, co-authored a paper at the request of the secretariat of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization's Commission on Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture. The paper is "Climate change and microorganism genetic resources for food and agriculture: state of knowledge, risks and opportunities." Garrett presented at the 13th regular session of the commission in July. The paper is available here.
