Plan now for semester break research

By Donna Ekart

Planning on getting research done during the semester break? A little advance work now will help you later if your plans involve the use of K-State Libraries’ interlibrary loan service. K-State faculty and graduate students working on research projects over the break are encouraged to get requests in as soon as possible to maximize the chances of delivery before Dec. 22.

Even though Hale Library will be open throughout the break, the majority of libraries from which we borrow materials will not be open past Dec. 21, and most stay closed through the first weeks of January 2013. Additionally, K-State interlibrary loan staff will not be available from Monday, Dec. 24, through Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013, in accordance with the university closure outlined by the office of the vice president for administration and finance. Requests may be submitted by users during this time, but won’t be processed until staff return.

Beginning Jan. 2, 2013, requests waiting in the queue for document delivery of K-State-owned materials will be prioritized in order to provide the normal five to seven business day turnaround. New requests to borrow from other libraries will begin on Jan. 9, 2013, with the normal time frames in effect.
