Tech Transfer Central webinar series features Kansas State University Institute for Commercialization strategic partner pathway

Submitted by Sarah Hancock

Tech Transfer Central and Industry-Sponsored Research Management will feature the Kansas State University Institute for Commercialization, or KSU-IC, in a webinar case study called "Turning Flyover Country into Ground Zero for Valuable University-Industry Partnerships." The program will be delivered by Rebecca Robinson, director of economic development for KSU-IC, from noon to 1 p.m. central time on Wednesday, Dec. 5. The Office of the Vice President for Research will host a viewing session free of charge for those able to attend in person in 1094 Fiedler Hall. Zoom attendance will not be available.

Robinson will discuss KSU-IC's five-stage strategic partnership pathway model and the Knowledge Based Economic Development, or KBED, partnership that brings together civic, academic and private sector entities to support new and growing companies in the region. The webinar is designed to help participants learn how to create long-term partnerships to generate tangible economic value, enhance university economic return, advance local economic growth through company attraction, and more.

K-State was designated an Innovation and Economic Prosperity University by the Association of Public and Land-grant Universities in the summer of 2017. The university continues to increase research collaborations with industry and to build economic growth by recruiting or expanding businesses to the region.

"This webinar will tell the significant story of the second 'miracle in Manhattan,' which is establishing an ecosystem that supports research-based partnerships with industry and economic growth in an area of the country that some would consider unlikely," said Kent Glasscock, president of KSU-IC.
