The McNair Scholars program at K-State is currently seeking new undergraduate participants.

The program is for students who are succeeding academically, interested in graduate school and willing to consider seeking a Ph.D. in their chosen fields. The program focuses on support for students in their undergraduate studies, assistance with identifying and applying to appropriate graduate programs and preparation for success in graduate school. The program includes a paid summer research internship opportunity with a K-State faculty mentor.

To be eligible for the program students must be U.S. citizens or legal residents, enrolled full-time at K-State, and sophomores or above with a GPA of at least 3.0. They must also be either low-income and first-generation -- neither parent holding a bachelor’s degree -- or a member of a group that is underrepresented in graduate study -- African American, Hispanic/Latino, Native American, Native Alaskan or American Pacific Islander.

Application materials and more information about the program can be found at our website. The application can be filled out online, but must be printed, signed and brought into the McNair office. For answers to further questions, call the McNair office at 785-532-6137. The priority deadline for applications is Sept. 14.

The McNair Scholars program is a TRIO program federally funded through a grant from the U.S. Department of Education. The existence of the program at K-State is dependent on continued funding from the department. The program is presently funded at an annual level of $246,400.
