Upcoming Live Ideas Lecture on Adam Smith and Inequality at 3 p.m. Oct. 4

Submitted by Jakob Hanschu

Dennis Rasmussen, Tufts University

Dennis Rasmussen, professor of political science at Tufts University, will give a Live Ideas Lecture "Adam Smith on What's Wrong with Inequality" at 3 p.m. Oct. 4 in Regnier Forum of Regnier Hall.

Adam Smith is known as the philosopher of the free market, but his concerns about excessive economic inequality are less well known. Rasmussen will shed light on these neglected concerns. He is author of several articles and books on Smith, including "The Infidel and the Professor: David Hume, Adam  Smith, and the Friendship that Shaped Modern Thought," 2017, and "The problems and Promise of Commercial Society: Adam Smith's Response to Rousseau," 2008.

The Live Ideas Lecture Series is sponsored by the Kansas State University primary texts certificate program. For more information, visit http://artsci.k-state.edu/primary/ or contact Laurie Johnson at lauriej@k-state.edu.
