Snead recognized as radon hero

Submitted by Mary Rankin

Bruce Snead, director of Engineering Extension Programs at Kansas State University, has been recognized with the 2018 Radon Hero award by the Conference of Radiation Control Program Directors Inc.

Recognized for his leadership and dedication to reducing radon exposure over the last 30 years, Snead has played an active role in the Midwest Universities Radon Consortium, National Radon Training Centers, National Radon Program Services and the Kansas Radon Program.

Throughout this time, he has worked closely with all state radon programs in EPA Region 7 and beyond to continually improve training; educate professionals, government officials and citizens about the dangers of radon; and lead the efforts on how to test, and fix or build radon-resistant.

Snead received the award Sept. 10 at the National Radon Conference in Lexington, Kentucky.
