Trend Micro antivirus and Mac OS X Mountain Lion compatibility issues

Submitted by Ben Janzen

For those who are planning on upgrading their Apple computers to the latest OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion operating system, there is a known compatibility issue with older versions of Trend Micro antivirus. Before attempting to upgrade to Mountain Lion, ensure your computer is running Trend Micro version 1.5.6043 or newer.

To check which version of Trend Micro Security for Mac OS X you are running, click the Trend Micro icon (a red or grey circle) in the OS X Menu Bar and choose open Trend Micro Security.  Make sure the product version is at least version 1.5.6043. To update your antivirus, click the Update Now button.

If you have already performed the Mountain Lion upgrade and experience the computer continuously rebooting, then Trend Micro may need to be updated to the latest version.

For assistance on getting Trend Micro updated after Mountain Lion has been installed, come by the IT Help Desk at 214 Hale Library. If you have questions or need information, call 785-532-7722 or email helpdesk@k-state.edu.
