Fraternity and sorority councils at K-State name Jordan Kocher as director
Jordan Kocher has been named the fraternity and sorority community's new director, effective June 1.
Kocher, a Kansas State University graduate, will work with fraternity and sorority stakeholders to develop, implement and assess programs and policies that support and facilitate leadership development, academic excellence, philanthropy and social justice.
Kocher currently serves as the fraternities, sororities and religious organizations liaison within the Center for Student Involvement, while coordinating educational and leadership programs for more than 475 student organizations. Before the center's creation, she worked as the assistant director of the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life, supporting the Interfraternity Council members and their programs. Kocher has been heavily involved in the K-State community, teaching the first-year course University Experience for five years, and currently serving as the chair-elect for the Women of K-State.
From the beginning of her fraternity/sorority profession, Kocher has been an active member of the Association for Fraternity/Sorority Advisors and the Association of Fraternal Values and Leadership. She presented "Breaking the First Rule of Fight Club: Let's Talk About Conflict" at the Association of Fraternal Values and Leadership's annual central conference in 2017 and was selected as a cluster facilitator for association's and Leadershape's The Institute Experience the previous summer.
"Jordan's experience in student development and passion for Greek life makes her the perfect fit for our community," said Mary Vanier, interim Panhellenic advisor. "More than 20 percent of K-State undergraduates are members of fraternities and sororities and we are fortunate to have someone of Jordan's caliber at the helm."
Kocher has a bachelor's degree in family students and human services and a master's degree in counseling and student development, both from K-State. She is an Alcohol Skills Training Program facilitator and is StrengthsFinder educator certified. Her community involvement has included serving as a foster parent for Purple Power Animal Welfare Society and a small group leader for University Christian Church.
